If you’re experiencing symptoms from a past trauma, such as difficulty sleeping, panic attacks, severe anxiety, nightmares, flashbacks to a traumatic event, dissociation, detachment from feelings, hyper-vigilance, an exaggerated startle response, irritability or outbursts of anger, hypnotherapy can help to bring you out of fight or flight mode, significantly decrease anxiety related to the trauma, reconnect you with your physical body and emotions, improve your sleep, and bring on a new hopeful mindset, looking towards the future and away from the traumatic event.

How it helps: For trauma and PTSD, the first step in hypnotherapy is stress inoculation - allowing the body to come out of the fight flight response that it’s been stuck in since the traumatic experience.  Other techniques incorporated include cognitive behavior therapy, to address any incorrect beliefs or thinking patterns about the trauma; reconnecting the individual with their body if there’s been some dissociation; increasing self-esteem and self-worth; learning emotional regulation; and fostering reslience for long-term success.
